John Terry has been in the midst of the football news for quite a bit now with some legal issues. The Chelsea captain Terry will go to Westminister Magistrates Court this week to go up against a charge in which he was accused of using racist language against another player in the Barclays Premier League. Terry will be in court on Thursday for the accusations, and the player that he is said to have said the racist phrase to is Queens Park Rangers‘ defender Anton Ferdinand. Terry states that he remains his innocence and says that the accusation is false. Obviously this is definitely not the type of news that Chelsea was hoping to get in the midst of the back end of the premier league season, but Chelsea head boss Andre Villas-Boas has said that he will be willing to give Terry some time away from the team in order to deal with these issues.

Terry has remained on the field since the charges were brought up back in December, and as the center-back for the team he is definitely one of the biggest parts of this roster as we head into the home stretch of BPL play. Villas-Boas stated that he’s hoping that he will not need to give Terry any time off, but said that if it is “important for the justice, we will do it”. Chelsea has yet to stop using Terry, and most important for both the team and the fans is the fact that the performance level from Terry has still been excellent.

To make this story even more interesting, Terry and Ferdinand actually played again this past weekend at Loftus Road in the FA Cup fourth round. The game ended with Chelsea knocking off QPR, but many people noticed the fact that Terry and Ferdinand didn’t have much to say, and did not shake hands. Obviously in this game the fans weren’t exactly incredibly nice to Terry, but he prevailed through and still played a solid all around game.

Chelsea is currently sitting in fourth place in the premier league, but is five points behind the third place team in Tottenham, and ten points behind Manchester United for second place in the league. QPR on the other hand find themselves at the bottom of the league currently with only 20 points, but have made quite a few changes in hopes of turning it around late in the year and avoiding ending up in the bottom four.
