It seems that recently in the Barclays Premier League there have been quite a few big time moves, with even more coming in the near future. One that recently caught our eye in the football news was the move that Alex recently made. Alex was playing for one of the top teams in the premier league in Chelsea, but has decided to sign with another well-known club in Paris Saint-Germain. It wasn’t incredibly cheap for PSG to get Alex, as the signing was worth £4.2m. The deal is said to be set for a span of three years, and it will put Alex with his old boss in Carlo Ancelotti, a pairing which you can assume that he is definitely excited about.

Alex is currently 29 years old, and was born on June 17th, 1982 in Niteroi, Brazil. He plays center back and was a huge part of Chelsea’s squad over the recent years. He’s made 115 appearances with the squad, and has also scored ten goals in total over his time with the team. He simply fell out of favor with Chelsea after some time, and put in a transfer request after the arrivals of Gary Cahill and David Luiz cut into his playing time quite a bit. As you can tell from Ancelotti’s statements, he is excited about the potential to team up with Alex, as he stated that he’s a “great professional”. Alex has been with Chelsea since back in 2004, when he made the move over from Santos, but played 2004-2007 on a loan to PSV Eindhoven.

Paris Saint-Germain has made some noise during this transfer window in January, as the team also signed Maxwell from another huge club in Barcelona. The team is obviously looking to build a long time contender with talent straight across the board, and their recent signings should be a great way to continue moving forward and remaining one of the best teams in their league.

As far as Chelsea goes, they find themselves currently in fourth place in the premier league behind the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham. They have put together a total record of 12 wins, 5 draws, and 5 losses, with 41 total points. They are five points behind third place, but a full ten points back of Manchester United for second place. They are obviously one of the most talented teams in the league, and are one to keep your eye on for the remainder of the season.
