An incident that happened during the game saw Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli seeming to not be taking the game in the spirit that it was meant to be played, performing a ‘spin heel’ shot instead of powering his trademark effort towards the hosts’ goal.

With the chance to open up his body onto his lethal right foot or lay the ball off to a team mate, the Italian opted to perform a half hearted, mockery of an effort that left not only his team mates screaming at him but that also upset Italian boss Roberto Mancini.

After the incident the young Italian was shouted out by team mates which lead to the striker shrugging his shoulders as to say that he was not bothered about their anger towards him, only to look up to find that Mancini had put his plan to substitute the striker firmly into motion.

Balotelli can be seen on video leaving the field of play and having an angry exchange with his manager as Mancini demanded to know what the player was thinking, ending in the young forward waving the manager away and heading down the player’s tunnel.

Balotelli is known to be interested in leaving the club after he was seen “having dinner” with a representative from Italian side Inter Milan but with no deal happening, the striker revealed that he would be staying with Man City, at least until July this year.

Well unfortunately for Balotelli, it seems that Inter do have their eyes on a Manchester City striker but it isn’t him, admitting their interest in fellow City forward Carlos Tevez who has now become a primary target for the club.

Whether the incident was a move to force the club into wanting to sell the player is still to be established but one thing is for sure, you can expect to see Balotelli training with the reserves at the club and failing to make the starting eleven on a regular basis.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw but the talking point will be that of Mario Balotelli and his antics on the field.
