With the summer transfer window closed and all football clubs now having to wait until January to add to their squad further, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger looks determined to be quicker off the mark the next time around.
Wenger came under fire from Arsenal fans and football pundits following his late movement in the transfer window this summer left the North London club without the world class talents that many expected would be added to the squad but January could be a different story all together.
According to football gossip columns, Wenger has instructed Arsenal scouts to monitor the situation of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez after the Argentinean international failed to secure a move away from the Eastlands club, amid comments that he did not want to stay at the club.
Tevez was tipped to leave England with one of the other top European leagues his likely destination but Man City refused to talk terms with any club that were not willing to offer £50 million for the Premier League golden boot winner last season.
With no deal happening, Tevez was forced to begin the season with City against his will and as a result the Argentinean striker has been stripped of his club captaincy.
The decision to remove the captain’s armband from the forward seems to have sparked rumours that the former Manchester United striker is desperate to leave the club in January and Wenger is ready and waiting to offer him a new home at the Emirates Stadium.
The lively striker would offer Arsenal a new dynamic to their attacking play and a partnership between Tevez and Van Persie could cause a number of problems for their Premier League rivals, although Wenger will not be alone in his interest.
Whether Tevez would be willing to remain in England is still to be seen following comments made by the player during the summer, claiming that he wanted to return to South America to be closer to his family.
