With the way in which the Premier League season has played out so far, those of you who have taken early steps to back your favourite football club to win the Premier League title are more than likely to be cursing your early movement.
In a season that looks like it could well create the most open Premier League title race in the history of the competition, millions of those who have taken up online betting at the beginning of the season will be left hoping that current leaders Manchester City will finally slip up and drop points after showing their dominance over rivals Manchester United, beating the title holders 6-1.
Following their 6-1 demolition of the title holders, Manchester City became the bookmakers favourites to secure the Premier League title this season, taking over the top spot at many of the bookmakers both on and offline.
The shift in the Premier League odds shows that many believe that Man City possess the quality to be able to take their first place position right through until the end of the season, securing the Premier League title, a season after winning their first silverware in more than 20 years as they lifted the FA Cup last season.
Although many have written off the chances of London based Chelsea, failing to give the West London based side credit to be able to increase their standing in the league could well prove costly for both Manchester sides, reports already showing that Chelsea are ready to once again open their cheque book to add further talent to their squad.
Meanwhile the Londoners are not going to be the only side that will be looking to close the gap between the two Manchester clubs and themselves, meaning that January could bring a flurry of transfer negotiations as the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and surprisingly Newcastle United look to close in on the Premier League title.
