If you go a few weeks without the name Wayne Rooney in the football news, you probably haven’t been reading the news in the right place. His name is now popping up once again, but this time it’s for a bit of news which is going to be interesting no matter what the outcome really is. There have been recent reports coming up that Rooney could potentially be sold in the January transfer window. This would be more than a bit surprising for both the team, the fans, and Rooney as well. Fortunately for the Man-U fans out there, the team has denied the reports that Rooney could be sold during this time frame.

It was said that the relationship between Wayne Rooney and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a dive for the worst, and that the two are simply not seeing eye to eye currently. It could potentially have something to do with the recent fine that was handed down to Rooney because of a poor training session after his night out to dinner. The way that these rumors were shot down came in a pretty interesting way, as there was a joint statement released from Manchester United and Rooney, which stated that “any suggestion that Manchester United and Wayne Rooney are to part company is complete nonsense.”

This is definitely the news that the fans were hoping to hear, as Rooney has definitely shown that he is still one of the best players not only in the Barclay’s Premier League, but also in the entire world. Rooney began his time with Manchester United when he moved over from Everton for a nice sum of £25.6m back in 2004. Rooney won his first of the four total Premier League titles back in 2006-2007, and this season he has scored a total of 15 goals in 22 games so far. The star striker also went to Twitter to voice his opinion on the topic, adding in that he has “no issues, and anyone who says different doesn’t know what they are talking about.”

Rooney still has quite a while left with the team, as he signed a five year extension with United back in October of 2010, which would leave just less than four years remaining on his current deal. All in all, it seems that this will all pass in time, and that before we know it we will be seeing some incredibly impressive goals from Rooney on the highlight reel again.
