Osasuna vs Real Madrid

Real Vallecano will be looking to end a three game losing streak when they face 6th place Osasuna, who will be desperate to bounce back after a humbling 5-1 defeat to Real Madrid last week.

Sociedad have shown signs of revival following a four to nil besting of Vallecano. The team has announced they are looking to bring Arsenal loanee Carlos Vela into the team on a permanent basis just as the young forward is showing the form that attracted interest from the Gunners’ reknowned scouting team. Vela will have the opportunity to reinforce the faith shown in him when his team faces Espanyol on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Barcelona face Real Zaragoza, a team who have earned three wins on the bounce following a season of disappointments. Zaragoza shouldn’t expect their fantastic run to continue against one of the leagues most formidable sides, as the last encounter between these two saw Barcelona come out winners with four goals to Zargaoza’s zero.

Villarreal, who have shocked fans with a season so poor they find themselves facing relegation, will have the opportunity to equal this week’s competition, Real Betis on 35 points with a win. The feat will not be an easy one for Villareal, who have yet another selection worry with center back Cristian Zapata suspended. Having proven they are a competent force when facing top teams Barcelona and Real Madrid by registering draws with both, what the team needs now is points. Real Betis will be hoping Rueben Castro, leading scorer with eleven, can overcome a knee issue to feature.

On Sunday, Real Madrid will need a win to preserve their 6 point cushion at the top. Opposition Valencia are the most likely team to take all three points against Ronaldo and Co, and have the powerful striking pair Soldado and Jonas, with 38 goals between them, to inspire the team to act as the stumbling block that will derail Madrid’s seemingly unstoppable title charge.

Opponents Levante and Atletico Madrid are almost level in the table and share a record of results over their last six games; both teams have three wins, two losses and a draw. Their match Sunday is too close to call, but Falcao on recent form, is a safe bet to score.

Bilboa and Sevilla are similarly close in the table, but Bilboa’s European journey seems to have taken a toll on their domestic competition, with the Bilbao team earning notoriety in England for humbling Manchester United, but facing criticism at home after losing four of their last six matches in La Liga.
