La Liga fixtures see Real Madrid hoping to preserve their comfortable six point lead on Barcelona, by taking on Osasuna Saturday. Two hours later, Barcelona will take on Bilboa, knowing only maximum points will keep them in contention for yet another domestic title. Malaga will likely continue their successful run against Real Betis, and leap frog Valencia, who come up against a very capable Levantate side.

Althetico Madrid will be looking to on-fire striker Falcao to fire them beyond the Getafe and Seville, the other two teams on 39 points but this weekend’s opposition, Getafe, will have the exact same goal in mind with Diego Castro, an attacking midfielder, playing a major role as their most prolific goalscorer in recent months.

In Italy, the top two sides, AC Milan and Juventus, are steadily pulling away from their Serie A competition. In a weekend which may prove decisive in the story of this season, both of these favored title contenders will be facing off against quality opposition.
AC Milan hold first place and look to extend a 4 point cushion between themselves and Juventus, facing 7th place Catania on Saturday. Catania will look to take advantage of a depleted AC Milan side that may rest big players with one eye towards Tuesday’s uphill battle in the Champions League, which sees Ibra and Co. take on the tough task of ousting Barcelona from the European Championship at the Nou Camp. Aiding Catania’s efforts will be the confidence that accompanies a good run of form – the team is unbeaten in seven matches.
Also on Saturday Lazio, likely without the injured Miroslav Klose, will be seeking maximum points against a struggling Parma, who haven’t registered a win since the beginning of February.

Sunday will see Palermo and Bologna fight for a spot in the top half of the table. Both teams are even on 36 points with the opportunity to jump into ninth, should Atalanta fail to defeat Cagliari. Meanwhile, Inter will face Genoa under the stewardship of former youth coach Andrea Stramaccioni, who replaced Claudio Ranieri as manager just this week. Despite recent domestic results not panning out for Di Natale and his Udienese teammates, Siena will look like easy pickings at the weekend. Udinese are currently level on points with Napoli, a team that faces much tougher opposition in the form of second place Juventus.
