Following the biggest UEFA Champions League shock of the season so far, AC Milan holding champions Barcelona to a 2-2 draw, football news reports are laying claim to the fact that the player that caused the shock, Thiago Silva, is on Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola’s wish list.

The Brazilian crushed the spirit of the Spanish side after levelling the game in the 89th minute after he headed the equaliser to steal the Italian Serie A side a point from their opening game in the UEFA Champions League Group H.

European champions Barcelona were heavy favourites to take all three points from the game, especially following the news that Milan would be without former Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he picked up an injury in a training session, ruling him out of contention for a play in the Italian squad.

According to Silva’s agent, Paulo Tonietto, Silva is not a player that is a new talent to the Spanish giants, saying that the club have previously spoken with him and Milan about a possible move to Spain but Tonietto said that the Brazilian was happy at the club.

Silva has recently signed a new deal with AC Milan and that will tie him to the club until June 2016, a fact that the player is thought to be relishing after his agent revealed that Silva was not even playing with the idea of leaving Milan.

Although his client is not interested in leaving the club, Toniello revealed that Silva was honoured to be linked with Barcelona, pointing out “they are currently the best team in the world”.

The Serie A side are known to want to keep hold of the Brazilian and so Barcelona will have to be willing to part with a big money offer if they are to convince the club to allow Silva to speak to them about any possible move.
